NX41 OCEF Indicator
Finding Faults on Underground MV Networks
The NX41 OCEF is a self-resetting overcurrent and earth fault indicatorfor use on cable networks. The NX41 includes Loss of Supply monitoring and a built in RTU.
Finding the Fault Location
When a fault occurs on an MV feeder, NX41 units between the source breaker and the fault location will indicate the route taken by fault current by flashing LEDs.
NX41 units beyond the fault, not on the fault path, will not flash.
The location of the faulty section is quickly identified between the last "flashing" unit and the first "non flashing" unit.

Embedded RTU and GSM/GPRS Communications
The NX41 OCEF has an onboard GSM/GPRS modem and embedded RTU functionality. It contacts the Central iHost Platform when the MV Feeder Trips. Units on the route to fault report "Earth Fault or Phase-to-Phase" and "MV Power Failure", units beyond the fault report only "MV Power Failure". These date/time stamped alarms can be passed to the Control Room Network Management System.
When the MV Supply is restored the NX41 logs and then reports a "MV Supply Restored" event to the Central iHost Platform.
Supply Interruption Monitoring
All interruptions to the MV supply are logged and reported to the Central iHost using the embedded RTU and GSM/GPRS modem. In this way the NX41 OCEF gives utilities even better network information in near real-time.
