Suitable Applications
The NX30 is suitable for use in numerous applications including fixed and mobile plant monitoring and control. Contact Nortech to discuss your requirements.
Digital Inputs
Accepting Volt-Free (dry) contacts. The whetting current is provided by the RTU. Where opto-isolated inputs are required these will be provided on a sub-board. Each of the 16 digital inputs is software configured to behave as one of the following types:
Binary input
Binary inputs can monitor rising and/or falling edge. Minimum detection time is 10ms. When a change of state event occurs the following actions are taken:
- Date/time stamped record placed in event log
- Call initiated to the Host (optional)
Pulse Counting Input
Each input has a 16-bit counter associated with it. Counter value can be incremented on rising and/or falling edge. The counter value is reported to the Host during each contact. There are Host configurable threshold levels, when reached users can be automatically notified.
½ hourly Datalogging Input
Counter Inputs can optionally be configured to record the number of pulses counted on a 30-minute basis. These 48 x ½ hourly values are stored on a per input per date basis and are reported to the Host.are reported to the Host.
Analogue Inputs
Accepts 4-20mA contacts. Each of the 8 analogue inputs is measured using 8-bit resolution and can be configured locally or remotely with 4 threshold levels. When a level is crossed the following actions are taken:
- Date/time and level stamped record placed in event log
- Call initiated to the Host (optionally)
Routine levels monitoring is also included combined with a datalogging facility.
Output Contacts
8 output lines are provided. Each line is individually configurable to provide ENERGISE, DE-ENERGISE, PULSE ON and PULSE OFF controls. Pulse durations are configurable. Typically outputs drive external relays.
Supply Monitoring and Temperature
If the optional internal battery is fitted then DC supply line ON/OFF is monitored and may be date and time stamped and optionally reported to the Host. The RTU has an on board temperature sensor. The temperature of the RTU is reported to the Host during every contact.
GPS Satellite Location and Tracking
Option for GPS chip and antenna. Reports current position back to Host via the GPRS network. Configurable frequency of logging and reporting. Ideal for combining telemetry and mobile asset tracking.
Remote Configuration
Operational settings are simply and remotely configured by editing settings on the Central Host System - these settings are then automatically sent to the RTU via the installed communications network link.
Communication with iHost
The following options are available and can be combined if necessary to provide a main/standby:
GPRS
Wireless "always on" link with the iHost platform. The frequency of updates is configurable. Applications will vary on the amount of data being transferred but typically this is 1 - 2 MB per month.
Ethernet
Ethernet back to the Nortech iHost platform.
RS422/RS485
For collection of data by Nortech iHost from RTUs installed in a single location, e.g. factory, airbase etc.
